Steel Pipe FAQ

Questions buyers ask about the six lines, the size ranges, the applications and the enquiry, answered from the catalogue pages.

Which lines does this catalogue cover

This catalogue covers six lines named on the company About page: ERW steel pipe, SSAW steel pipe, LSAW steel pipe, seamless steel pipe, scaffolding tube and couplers, and square and rectangular hollow sections. Each line has its own page, where its forming route or shape difference is described, and where a size range is given on the About page, the range is reproduced as the About page lists it. No other line is presented here as a product line, and four further names that appear on the company homepage as navigation column names are not turned into product pages on this site.

A buyer who wants a line outside the six should name it in the enquiry, rather than assume a page covers it. A buyer who wants a homepage column direction, such as structure pipe, casing and tubing or oil and gas line pipe, should name the line wanted together with the direction, because those directions are discussed on guide pages rather than as separate product lines. The guide pages for those directions explain that boundary in full, and the enquiry pages ask for line and direction together.

What size information is given, and what is not

For four lines, the company About page gives a size range in outside diameter terms, and those ranges are reproduced on the line pages: ERW at OD 1/2 to 26 inch (21.3 to 660 mm), SSAW at OD 8 to 120 inch (219.1 to 3048 mm), LSAW at OD 14 to 64 inch (219.1 to 1626 mm), and seamless at OD 1/8 to 36 inch (10.3 to 914.4 mm). Scaffolding tube and couplers and hollow sections carry no size range on the About page, and no range is stated for them anywhere on this site. No wall thickness, material grade, execution standard or length is stated for any line.

A size range should be read as a starting point for an enquiry, not as a guarantee that every size inside the range is available for any particular order. A buyer who needs a particular size should name it in outside diameter terms, together with the line, the application and the quantities, and ask for availability, quantity terms and timing to be confirmed for that size. Where a size is not yet fixed, the enquiry should say so and ask what information the supplier needs before availability can be discussed.

Which applications are covered

Five application directions are covered, as named on the company About page: petroleum and gas pipelines, water pipelines, construction and building, dredging projects and piling projects. Each direction has an application page, and each application page describes the direction and the lines discussed for it, without turning the direction into a promise about any particular order. A job can touch more than one direction, and an enquiry that touches more than one direction should name each direction, so that the reply can cover the job as a whole.

Applications are discussed at the level of direction and line, and no application page states a specification, a performance figure or a commercial term for any job. Quantities, timing, trade terms, payment method and documents for a job in any direction are settled in the enquiry, for the items named. A buyer who needs any of those points for a job should name the point in the enquiry, together with the line, the application, the size where known, the quantities and the destination.

How documents, quantities and timing are handled

Documents on this site are described only in the general wording that certificates are available upon request. No page names a particular certificate, and no page states that any line carries any particular document. A buyer who needs a document should ask about it in the enquiry, naming the items it concerns, so that the answer can be tied to those items. The certificates page explains that wording in full, and the enquiry pages ask for document questions to be raised together with the commercial questions, for the same items.

Quantity terms, timing, trade terms and payment method are likewise settled in the enquiry, not on any catalogue page, because they depend on the items, the quantities and the destination. No quantity, timing, price or payment figure is stated anywhere on this site, and no buyer should read any catalogue wording as stating one. An enquiry that asks about all of those points together, for the same items, in the same message, will receive a reply that can be checked as a whole, and that is the outcome the enquiry pages are written to support.
